About Wash Weekly

My name is Waleed.

I’m no laundry guru, but I’ve learned a lot growing up in my family’s laundry business. Even more when I made my Dad an offer to take over the business in 2015.

What started as a traditional self-service laundromat, is now a pick up & delivery drop off service. All it took was one customer to keep asking me over and over for pick up and delivery to change.

Every single week she asked. So I finally said ‘okay I’ll do it for you’. I had to learn about it all by myself, it was a huge learning curve. At the time, those I met in the laundry industry were unwilling to share information. The mentality seemed to be, if they shared something with me, it would take away from their business.

So I had no one to turn to or get help from. I did a lot of reading, experiments, trial and error and applied things I learned from my other businesses to my laundry business. I hacked together an online order form, linked to a driver delivery app using some APIs and started doing some local marketing.

After one day of offering it on our website, we got order after order after order.

Holy smokes.

All of sudden I was starting at 6am picking up & delivering laundry myself. Long days and nights but it was worth it. Our laundry business transformed immediately. And so did our mentality.

We started asking ourselves ‘what if?’ and experimented with dry cleaning, then sneaker cleaning. We started posting on Instagram and Facebook to get more exposure.

Who’d have thought people would post pictures of their socks on Instagram? That's the result of attention to detail, some out of the box ideas and asking ‘what if?’ can do.

Now, we are expanding and growing and adapting within the laundry industry. We’re still learning and still trying new things.

So Wash Weekly is a way for me to share the stories, experiences and practices with you that I couldn’t get from others, but are now transforming my laundry business.

Join me for the spin.

My sincere hope is that, you learn a thing or two from Wash Weekly to help write your laundry success story.
